Gabrielle Garneau

Translator

Gabrielle is an avid reader who wanted to get into writing as a way to spread knowledge. This ambition—combined with her passion for words and their power for intellectual enrichment—is what led her to translation. In 2011, she graduated summa cum laude from the University of Ottawa’s translation program.

In her translation work, Gabrielle loves the challenge of finding the right word or an elegant turn of phrase that truly encapsulates the source text. Every day, she gets to indulge her fervent curiosity in the countless subjects that get assigned to her. Her favourite topics are the social sciences, the arts, literature, and the environment.

While Gabrielle loves work that fires up her neurons, she also enjoys activities that force her to get up and at ’em. Every day, she sets off to explore a part of the world with her trusty dog, Bingo. After their adventures, her furry friend takes a well-deserved nap while Gabrielle tends to her vegetable garden.
