Translator

Although she only officially started at our office in spring 2025, Joanie was already well acquainted with SYM. After two internship rotations (in winter and fall 2023) and a summer as a part-time translator, she came back to join our team with not only a solid education in professional translation from the Université de Sherbrooke but also an ongoing passion for words and how they resonate.

What does she love most about her job? Diving head first into terminology research to find the best translation. She has a soft spot for press releases, specialized texts, and documents that deal with ethics.

Joanie never backs down from a challenge, as shown by her three turns at the Translation Games in Montreal and her subtitling work for two Argentine films presented at the Festival cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke.

Outside the office, Joanie divides her time between combat archery, adventure and puzzle video games, and Korean- and Japanese-inspired cooking.
